Wow, the magnificent Manjimup region really opened my eyes the the delights of this corner of WA.  The farmers and producers that we met blew us away with their knowledge, passion and commitment to developing sustainable food production.  Their enthusiasm is contagious, and we enjoyed some fabulous meals prepared with the produce of the region.  A huge thank you to Annette and Peter for putting together such a fabulous tour.- Jennifer

Embark on an unparalleled culinary journey unlike any other. Delve into a truly unique, tailor-made experience that celebrates the essence of authenticity. Nestled within the pristine Southern Forests agricultural region lies a haven where the most delectable fruits, nuts, and vegetables flourish. Here, modern farming techniques intertwine seamlessly with time-honored wisdom, cultivating awe-inspiring results in harmony with the land. While farmers remain industrious, they warmly extend invitations for exclusive tours, generously welcoming guests onto their properties.

Itinerary

Catch our courtesy transfers from Mandurah train station or drive to Pemberton for a 2.30pm check-in and meet Pete , your guide and driver, for a quick intro.

Your journey will take you through wonderful small towns and undulating countryside to arrive in Pemberton in the early afternoon. You will have time to settle into your accommodation and freshen up before we head out for our welcome dinner and an opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers.

Dinner

After a hot breakfast, we commence our agricultural knowledge of the Southern Forests area with a tour of our local marron and trout farm, where you will meet another Pete, long time farmer in this region.

Lunch today is a private Lunch at Dingup House, the original home of the Gibletts, founding family of Manjimup (built in 1870). This is now a BnB with tonnes of history and stunning gardens all around.

Following lunch, and a trout smoking workshop, we take a tour of 3 Ryan’s egg farm. The Ryan’s are one of the traditional farmers of the area cultivating a range of our stable vegetables.

This evening we are off to Peos Estate where we will meet Vic and Bente who will be our hosts for the evening. We will sample their wines before indulging in a cultural feast in a unique facility overlooking the vineyard with a glass of complimentary wine in hand.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We commence the day with a hot breakfast and then meander into Manjimup to discover the Manjimup Heritage Park, which provides a unique experience that combines both museums and recreational activities in the same place. Guided entry to all three museums is included in your tour of the Heritage Park precinct.

Lunch today is at Tall Timbers, with good food and a fabulous wine list, this restaurant features in all of our Gems tours.

Next a truffle hunt adventure to discover the alluring story of Australian black truffles (tuber melanosporum or Périgord truffle) and how they came to be sought after by the world’s best chefs. The Booth family take us for a wander amongst the hazelnut and oak trees in their orchard and engage the services of Truffle dogs Gidgee and Max who will lead us through the trees as they nose out the ripest of black truffles.

A short refresh break back at our motel and we are out for a fabulous private dinner at Silkwood Estate with Chef George. A wine tasting, of course, and a workshop on how to use Fresh Truffle with George.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We start the morning with a hot breakfast at a local café before heading out to meet Bec and Shaun at Lady Croft Orchard, one of the largest in WA, and learn of the developing varieties that are constantly changing for consumer demands.

Lunch today is at brand new, Hound & Hunter, Deli and Test Kitchen in Manjimup. Owned and operated by Australian Truffle Traders. Amazing truffle products, and more, to purchase here while you are enjoying lunch.

On our return travels we will call in to a local winery and prepare your tastebuds for the evening decadence ahead with a truffle product and wine pairing experience. A perfect opportunity to pick up some wine to enjoy with your evening meal tonight.

Dinner will be a delight for your senses where you will be treated to a private six course Truffle exclusive dining experience with Chef Joe Ditri.
