Adelaide and Murray Princess

On arrival into Adelaide you will be transferred to your hotel where you will spend the following 2 nights.

Overnight – Majestic Roof Garden Hotel

Today’s tour takes you to South Australia’s premium wine region, to sample some of the Barossa’s finest wines
including the world-famous Jacobs Creek Visitor Centre before winding your way through the picturesque
Adelaide Hills to Hahndorf, Adelaide’s oldest German settlement.
This morning travel through the city heading north the world-renowned Barossa wine region. Enjoy the change
of scenery as you make your way into the vineyards, with your first stop at the multi-award-winning Jacob’s
Creek Visitor Centre where you will have the opportunity to sample their famous wines in a structured tasting.
This will be followed by a tour of the surrounding vines and cellar door with morning tea included as you
overlook the vineyards. Leaving Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre, travel to Mengler Hill Lookout, for sweeping views
over the valley and then onto Lambert Estate in Angaston for wine tasting and a 2-course lunch. Leaving the
Barossa, drive past the Herbig Family Tree at Springton, where the hollow tree trunk provided a ‘home’ for
Friedrich & Caroline Herbig and two of their 16 children until 1860. Continuing to the picturesque Adelaide
Hills, you will travel to Hahndorf and visit the Beerenberg Farm Shop where you can read about the story of how
Beerenberg began and the history of Hahndorf. You will also have time to explore the entire range of products
in the Farm Shop, plus a selection of souvenirs and gifts. After Beerenberg, you will have time to wander along
Hahndorf’s main street where you can sample local produce or check out the local arts and crafts. Following
the tour you will return to your hotel, arriving late this afternoon.

After breakfast you will have some free time to relax before your afternoon transfer to Mannum where you will
board the Murray Princess for your 3 night cruise. The PS Murray Princess departs historic Mannum, the
birthplace of the Murray River trade and communication, and heads downriver. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks and
cocktails (at own expense) from the Sturt Bar along with an introduction to your crew who will look after you for
the duration of the cruise. Meet your friendly entertainer, Dave Freeman, before being seated for a fabulous
Welcome Dinner as you cruise under floodlight to your overnight mooring at Murray Bridge. Tonight’s
entertainment will be provided by the talented Dave Freeman.

Overnight – Murray Princess – Outside Cabin

In 1879 the first bridge to span the Murray River was built here at Edwards Crossing which quickly became the
bustling township of Murray Bridge. After a hearty breakfast, choose to explore the town’s historic landmarks
and local attractions, such as the Roundhouse, or go on a wildlife tour to the iconic Monarto Safari Park
(additional cost). Shuttle transfers are available to the main street of Murray Bridge for those who may wish to
stroll around town and visit the beautiful new Bridgeport Hotel, or you may like to take a walk across the bridge
and just wander around and admire the lovely river front areas. This afternoon there will be a special
presentation in the Sturt Dining Room on the bounty of food and wine produced in the local Riverland and
Murrayland regions. You will moor at Salt Bush Flat for overnight, and following dinner, Dave will return to the
stage to perform his much acclaimed “OMG Neil Diamond Sounds Like Me” tribute show.

After a delicious breakfast, join the First Officer at the gangway for a guided nature walk around Salt Bush Flat.
Depart Salt Bush Flat late morning and enjoy a regional Riverland and Murrayland food and wine tasting
presentation in the Sturt Dining Room, followed by a leisurely lunch. As you continue cruising downriver there’s
time to relax and enjoy the facilities onboard. Catch up with friends over a coffee or a drink and reminisce
about last night’s entertainment whilst enjoying the magnificent scenery. This afternoon you will moor at River
View Lodge (near Piggy Flat/Coolcha), where the ‘Dragon-Fly’ flat-bottomed boat awaits you. Travel in small,
personalised groups and explore the river, getting up close to the 20-million-year-old limestone cliffs and view
the amazing birdlife, including darters, herons and egrets who live along the river. Other activities you might
like to take part in this afternoon include a fun game of bocce on the riverbank, do a spot of fishing, or just relax
on the lawns. Tonight, join your fellow cruise passengers for a delicious dinner and more great musical
entertainment from Dave.

Overnight: Murray Princess – Outside Cabin

You will depart Riverview Lodge early in the morning while enjoying breakfast in the Sturt Dining Room before
docking at the Mannum Wharf. On arrival you will disembark and transfer back to Adelaide where you will
spend the following 2 nights.

Today is a full day at leisure to relax and explore the city on your own.

Optional day tour: McLaren Vale and The Cube Experience
Cost: $225.00 per person

This tour will allow you to discover some of the best food and wine McLaren Vale has to offer, including a visit to
the spectacular d’Arenberg Cube. From wine tastings to gin or beer tastings, and a delicious Italian style shared
lunch, you are sure to find something that tempts the tastebuds. Leaving the city, you will head out through the
southern suburbs and along the metropolitan coastline enjoying coastal views as you head to McLaren Vale
Information Centre for morning tea and coffee. Then it’s onto one of the highlights of your day, the d’Arenberg
Cube. Nestled amongst the vineyards, this 5 level “rubiks cube” has been carefully designed to entice and
excite the senses. From the Alternate Realities Museum to the many art installations on display there is so
much to see and experience whilst you are there. Your visit will also include a formal wine tasting on Level 4
where you can enjoy panoramic views of the vineyards.
Next head to Chalk Hill Wines, a family-owned winery, dedicated to making small batch, hand crafted wines of
distinction. The Harvey family has been growing grapes for six generations and has six vineyards spread across
the McLaren Vale region. Indulge in a traditional Italian style shared lunch prepared by Cucina Di Strada, paired
with four of Chalk Hill’s most popular wines. Continue on to Beresford Wines, where you can choose from one
of three tastings in their new Tasting Pavilion. The Premium Wine Tasting introduces you to a selection of their
wines from the Estate and Limited Release range. The Vale Brewing Tasting offers a selection of craft beers
from the sessionable Vale range. And the third option is the 23rd Street Distillery tastings, where you can
choose from a selection of craft spirits. The final stop will be at Wirra Wirra Vineyards, located amongst the
gum trees in the historic ironstone cellars. Enjoy a short tour of the cellars and a structured tasting of their
range of quality wines. Look out for the ‘catapult’ and the ¾ tonne Angelus Bell in the picturesque grounds
surrounding the cellar door. You will then travel back to Adelaide and arriving at your hotel late this afternoon.
