South America Explorer – August 2014

Dear Friend,

What an amazing weekend. Our spectacular efforts have led to an incredible outcome for the inaugural Weekend to End Women’s Cancers™ benefiting Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research – together with 845 fellow participants, you helped raise $2.2 million for Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Thanks to your tireless efforts, funds raised by The Weekend will help us employ the best young researchers to join our team, and provide equipment and grants to encourage them to ask the big questions. Thanks to the Weekend participants and donors, Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research will establish Western Australia’s first Centre for Women’s Cancer Research and appoint an outstanding scientist to lead the work. The Centre will focus on defeating two of the most challenging diseases facing women, breast and ovarian cancer.

I felt incredibly moved seeing our Weekend community come together, united by a common purpose – to help end women’s cancers. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the thousands of staff at Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, I thank you for your very important contribution. Your personal achievement will have an invaluable impact on thousands of women in our community.

We would also like to acknowledge our sponsors for their support in this amazing journey. A special thanks to Pedersens Hire, Pure Romance, PH8, and Media Sponsors Channel 9 and NOVA 93.7. Their committed resources made this event even more successful.

Spots are already filling up quickly for next year, so if you haven’t yet, register to Walk with us in 2015 for only $25 using the special code: walk15. This offer is valid until Friday 21 March, so please don’t hesitate to share it with your friends and family.

Thank you for your commitment to and confidence in our wonderful organisation and to helping us bring an end to women’s cancers.
